
Phidelice Gervacy, a self-taught artist, was born on 7th January 1982 in the Kilimanjaro region. He has participated in numerous art exhibitions and workshops. In September 2002 he took part in an art workshop at the University of Dar es Salaam organized by Els Waijers from the Netherlands. In 2006 he participated in an art workshop at TCC Chang’ombe in Dar es Salaam and in the Vipaji foundation workshop which was organized by Zachariah Mbutha from Nairobi Kenya. Fide participated in an art workshop at the DSM organized by Rafiki Art Trust in june 2004. He also took part in a graffiti art workshop at the Nafasi Art Space in 2011 which was organized by Anna Samsoee from Denmark.
Fide’s first exhibition was in 1999 at the Tanz Hands at the Italian Ambassador’s residence in Dar es Salaam, and was followed by a group exhibition at the National Museum festivals in Arusha & Bagamoyo in may 2001. He participated in the East Africa Biennale in Dar es Salaam in july 2003, and he held exhibitions at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Dar es Salaam in 2004, which marked the South African week; these were followed by another exhibition at the European Union in Dar es Salaam. Fide has also exhibited at the Wasanii Art Centre in Dar es Salaam in july 2006, at Makutano in Dar es Salaam in july and october 2006, the Angaza Exhibition in Mlimani City in 2010 and the Alliance France Chorography Printing Exhibition in 2010. He showed at the incoming artist showcase in Kempis in Dar es Salaam in 2010, and the Busara Festival in Zanzibar in 2011.
Fide is also a graphic designer.
